Creativity, inspiration and living in the now.
Jasmin Gabay is a true multi-talent. She first caught our attention as the cheerful contestant on Bagedysten [The Great Danish Bake Off] and since then, she has continued to inspire through music, storytelling and her presence as an influencer. Here she shares her thoughts on balance, inspiration and making every move and moment matter.
Our Units aims to inspire people to make every movement matter on the journey towards better. What does “better” mean to you and what moves you forward?
I practise being fully present in the now. In this context, movement itself is the present moment. The “now” we are in should feel good. When we manage to be truly present and make the most of it, I believe we’re on the path towards something better.
In the past, I was always looking ahead, always longing for more or for something better. There’s a deep-rooted longing within me and I think that’s a big part of my drive. But I’m working on shifting my focus away from constantly moving forward and instead just being. Right here, right now. I believe that if we practise being present at the best possible frequency in this moment, whatever lies ahead will reflect that. That’s why I think the path to something better starts with directing our attention to the energy we are in now and striving to be fully and deeply present in it.
What does it mean to you to be able to move people?
I think this is a core value for me. It gives meaning to my work when I can touch people through what I do, whether that’s music, acting, food or even sharing moments on Instagram.
You appear to be a woman in perpetual motion. How is this reflected in your life and work? You’re a woman in perpetual motion. How is this reflected in your life and work?
I really am always on the move. I always carry a big bag because no two days are the same and my schedule is often filled with constant shifts – yoga, events, meetings, shoots, studio time and so much more. That means I need a big bag and outfits that can easily adapt to different occasions.
How are you moving forward in life?
I see life as something that should flow. Like a river, I don’t need to push it forward. It moves naturally on its own. Instead, I focus on creating balance in what I do, tuning into myself and simply being present in it.
What inspires your work?
Everything! Nature, the city, people, encounters, sounds. I think I experience life very intensely, which means I’m constantly inspired by the impressions I take in.
