An interview with Julia Lahme - communicator, trend researcher and author

A Life in Motion

FRIENDS OF OURS

JULIA LAHME

What does it mean to move people – not just emotionally, but meaningfully? Julia Lahme believes it starts with connection. In her work as a communicator, author and researcher, she’s seen how inspiration flows when we choose to stay open – to each other, to new ideas, to the unknown. And in a world that asks us to take a stand, Julia reminds us that movement isn’t about being loud – it’s about being present. With love. With purpose.

What does “better” mean to you, and what moves you forward?

To me, better means always making an effort in everything you do – and accepting that finishing something isn’t always the goal. In life, in relationships and even in work, it’s much more interesting to view life as an ongoing opportunity to learn, grow and keep moving.

You appear to be a woman in perpetual motion. How is this reflected in your life and in your work?

I’m very curious and I think that’s my driving force. I constantly seek out those light bulb moments and I live for the spark that happens when ideas and people come together. In my work – communication and trend research – curiosity is everything. I also believe movement keeps us alive. Whether it’s intellectual, emotional or creative, movement brings energy into relationships, into work and into the joy of making something new.

What does it mean to you to be able to move people?

The world today asks us to take a stand – perhaps more than ever. And for that to happen, we can’t shut ourselves off from one another. We have to recognise that we’re all connected. To move each other is to inspire, to invite connection and to open ourselves to different ways of seeing. I think it’s essential that we try to live in a way that encourages movement – in thought, in feeling and in action – so we can better understand the world around us.

How are you moving forward in life?

With as much love, light and curiosity as I can muster – and with a deep determination to share, connect and create.

What inspires your work?

Life, love and the people I’m lucky to have around me – both in my personal life and in my work.
